Location: The Meriki is located in a peaceful location 10 min walk from the beach and only 5 min from Seminyak main street, nightlife, and Jalan Oberoi’s vast array of restaurants and bars. The hotel is nice and clean to sleep in Seminyak for a very good price. Rooms are large and spacious with a kitchenette in the corner, big beds, LCD TV with DVD player, air conditioning, and open-air bathrooms that have hot water whatever the time, night or day. There is also free WiFi access. There is also a swimming pool that is great for a quick dip. Considering the location in Seminyak which is very expensive, an excellent value for money.

Location: The Putu Bali Villa And Spa Hotel is in the quieter northern part of Seminyak near the Potato Head, Woo Bar, Sarong, and Biku Bali’s finest restaurants (1 – 5 minutes on foot). While not exactly centrally located (getting to the nightlife in Jalan Double Six for the late night clubs is a little over 2km away, 5 min by cab), it will take a short 15-minute walk (or 5 minutes in a cab) to reach Ku Da Ta beach. The villas built in traditional Balinese-style cottages that are spread through a lush garden are fabulous, modern, clean, and comfortable. They come with king-sized beds, flat-screen TVs with surround sound and DVD player, a superb outside bathtub and open shower plus a small kitchenette with refrigerator. The air conditioning stays on all the time as unlike most hotels you do not need the key to activate the power, so you are guaranteed a nice cool room on your return. The swimming pool is adequate for a quick cool off and the breakfast is of superb quality.

Location: The Kamar Kamar is an intimate 10 rooms boutique hotel that offers superb value for money in Seminyak. Junior suites have exceptional living/dining areas all fully furnished with a flat-screen TV, CD & DVD player, WiFi, a minibar, and an in-room safe. The separate bedroom is spacious and very comfortable with king-sized beds and top-class air conditioning. Most suited to those who plan on hiring a motorbike or are happy to take a cheap taxi as it takes a good 20-minute walk to reach the main Seminyak area and even a bit further away from the beach or nightlife.

Location: The Tony’s Villa sits in the Petitenget area far up north in Seminyak, but is close to many popular bars and restaurants such as Potato Head, Sarong, Woo Bar, Biku, and a 10-minute walk to the beach. Nightlife and bar scene around Jalan double six will take a good 20 – 30 by foot although only about a 5-minute taxi ride. Tony’s Villas still has a lot to offer, the accommodation is beautifully set in lovely colorful gardens and the rooms are clean and spacious with comfortable king-sized beds, a flat-screen TV, a mini bar, fully functioning air conditioning, and an open-air bathroom with proper running hot water. The WiFi is only available in the reception and there is a club opposite across the road that can get very noisy at the weekends, so if you are a light sleeper don’t hesitate to ask for the room furthest away!

Location: The Amadeus Resort is set right in the heart of Seminyak on Jalan Laksmana and along the main stretch of the road. Be prepared for a breezy 10-minute walk down to the beach and an additional five to ten minutes to reach the bars, discos, and girls of Jalan Double Six. The rooms are large with plenty of space and come equipped with comfortable beds, a lovely balcony that overlooks the swimming pool, a refrigerator, a large in-room safe (big enough to hold a laptop), an iPhone/iPod docking station, a kettle with instant tea and coffee plus TV with a good selection of channels. The bathroom was also of a good size. The downside is that there is no free WiFi in the rooms and it will cost 25000 rp per hour, but you can get it for free in the lobby. The swimming pool was pleasant with a swim up bar and plenty of deck chairs.

Location: The Casa Artista Hotel Bali is a compact but immaculately kept complex tucked in a very quiet area just a 10 – 15 minutes walk from Seminyak’s nightlife. With the beach just a few hundred meters away and the main bars and restaurants, only a 5 to 10 minutes stroll this is a good place to stay. The Argentinian owner has a passion for painting and tango which is expertly reflected in this boutique hotel’s chic decor. The rooms (11 in total) all set around the pool and courtyard have extremely comfortable beds, large plasma TVs, great WiFi signal, and well-designed semi-open air bathrooms. All in all a lovely little place to stay.

Location: The Pelangi Bali Hotel & Spanestles is a 5-star beachfront hotel set right in the middle of all the action with everything you could need within easy walking distance. Bars, late-night clubs, restaurants, shops, warungs on the beach, and massage parlor girls the list is endless. It really doesn’t get much better in Seminyak. The hotel could do with a refurbishment but the rooms are large, clean, and well-situated. What matters is a big comfortable bed, good hot water for your shower/bath, continuous fresh air conditioning, TV with lots of English-speaking channels, and proper WiFi in a safe and clean environment, and the Pelangi Bali Hotel provides it all. The swimming pool is great with a swim-up bar facility and outstanding customer service from the staff. There was only one negative that I could think of and that is no in-room safety deposit box, however, these are available free of charge in the reception area.

Location: The Artemis Villa and Hotel will provide you with the perfect place for peace and relaxation. With the beach, just a 5-minute walk, and the nightlife of Jalan Double Six road and its lively clubs and bargirls about 15 minutes walk it’s an ideal spot. Located 100 meters up an alleyway it is surrounded by bars and restaurants so you don’t have to make the walk if you don’t feel like it. The apartment-style room I booked was comfortable and spacious with a living/dining area, a separate bedroom with a lovely comfy king-size bed, and a large open-air bathroom with shower, bath, and toilet. The decor is a mix of traditional and modern with a high thatched roof, a big open-air shower, and modern fixtures, there really is everything you could want. The swimming pool and bar area were also very nice and never crowded. For the price, this is good value for money.
