Las Palmas Hotel ★★★ $40 avg/night
1616 A. Mabini Str. Malate, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Las Palmas Hotel is set right in the heart of Malate and just a few minutes walk from the nighttime offerings. The cheaper rooms are compact but reasonably priced with comfortable beds, a TV with lots of English channels, and fully functioning air conditioning. The bathroom is spotlessly clean with a powerful shower that has plenty of hot water. The only downside to this hotel is that the internet is very expensive, all in all, though a good choice with a very good security policy.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Las Palmas Hotel: “We are pleased to inform you that our Standard room that can accommodate 2 persons already. Just make sure your guest has a valid ID.”
Riviera Mansion Hotel ★★★ $41 avg/night
1638 A. Mabini Street, Malate, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Riviera Mansion Hotel I picked from the reviews of other travelers on Tripadvisor is situated just a couple of minutes from the LA Cafe (now called Manila Bay Cafe) and a couple of dollars taxi ride to Makati, Mall of Asia, or and a Greenbelt. During my stay, I was glad to see the hotel meet all the latest amenities. The rooms were recently renovated and clean and exceptionally comfortable with over 80 channels on offer from the TV. The air conditioning worked perfectly if a little noisy at times when left on the high setting.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Riviera Mansion Hotel: “For security reasons, below is the hotel’s joiners policy: Unregistered guests are allowed to stay overnight if accompanied by the registered guest. Only two persons are allowed to stay in the room without additional charge. An unregistered guest has to provide an ID upon entering the hotel premises and to be retrieved upon leaving. The registered guest should call the guard to allow the unregistered guest to leave the hotel.”
Rothman Hotel ★★★ $42 avg/night
1633 M. Adriatico Street, Malate, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Rothman Hotel is a great place to stay, very close to all the attractions of Malate and Ermita. The rooms offer excellent amenities including soft comfortable beds, cable TV, and a refrigerator. There is no free WiFi in the rooms and you have to purchase internet cards but on the whole everything about the hotel is very clean with the added bonus of backup generators should the power go down.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Rothman Hotel: “Warmest greetings from ROTHMAN HOTEL! below is the hotel’s joiners policy: Unregistered guests are allowed to stay overnight if accompanied by the registered guest. Only two persons are allowed to stay in the room without additional charge. An unregistered guest has to provide an ID upon entering the hotel premises and to be retrieved upon leaving. Minors who are not related to the registered guest are prohibited to enter the guest’s room.”
Lotus Garden Hotel ★★★ $43 avg/night
1227 A. Mabini corner Padre Faura Sts. Ermita, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Lotus Garden is a recently refurbished hotel in Malate that offers unbeatable value for money in a prime downtown location. The rooms are clean with free WiFi and the breakfast buffet is also included in the price. Jacuzzi, fitness room and billard are also available. The staff was friendly and always on hand to help, and security will call your room when you’re “guest” leaves the hotel. If the true value is for your money if you’re looking for something in the ErmitaMalate district.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Lotus Garden Hotel: “I have stayed here on my two previous trips to Manila and never have had any problems bringing a girl back to the room with me. Just make sure to book for two in Agoda (the price is the same).”
Swagman Hotel ★ $44 avg/night
411 A Flores Street, Ermita, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Swagman Hotel is not the Ritz but certainly a good economy-style hotel. Room are correct and come with all the basic amenities. A good option for first-time visitors as they offer a free pick up and transfer to the airport and bus shuttles to other areas of the country such as Angeles, Subic Bay, Puerto Galera, etc.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Swagman Hotel: “Regarding the guest that you will bring in the room is free of charge as long as you will bring only one. We are very friendly employees all of us. Best regard. Thanks. Lalyn.”
Executive Plaza Hotel ★★★ $45 avg/night
1630 A. Mabini Street, Malate, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Executive Plaza Hotel has a good location with Robinson’s Mall just two clocks away, the world-famous LA Cafe (renamed Manila Bay Cafe these days) three blocks away, and the Bay a simple four-block walk. The Hyatt with the big casino is also just across the street if this is your thing. The hotel is not fancy and you won’t get Vegas-style opulence or a great array of amenities, however, if you are looking for a well-looked-after hotel with spacious rooms, excellent service from uniformed staff, and a safe environment then this is the right choice.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Executive Plaza Hotel: “Warmest Greetings from Executive Plaza Hotel! Yes, a joiner is allowed inside the room and there is no additional fee as long as you only bring one. Yes, ID will be presented upon check-in.”
Orchid Garden Suites ★★★ $56 avg/night
620 Pablo Ocampo Sr. Street, Malate, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Orchid Garden Suites is an older hotel starting to show signs of wear, however, don’t judge this by looks as the comfort levels are really good, and the standard rooms are a little small but clean and well furnished. The suites, however, are very spacious with fully equipped kitchens, separate living areas, and a lovely bedroom. The staff as you would expect in the Philippines are kind and really helpful.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Orchid Garden Suites: “We are pleased to inform you that we have rooms inclusive for two persons already, Inclusive of buffet breakfast. In regards to your concern, if a guest who’s with you that time is not registered in our system, she may need an identification card and she needs to log into our security guards’ log book, by the time she will go out she will tell to our security guard on what room she came from and then the security will call to your room to confirm that person who’s been to your room is free to go out.”
Pan Pacific Manila ★★★★★ $107 avg/night
M. Adriatico corner General Malvar Streets, Malate, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Pan Pacific in Manila offers good value compared to the other five-star hotels available in the area. The check-in is fast and there are welcoming drinks on arrival during this time. The standard room is well located with a great view of Manila Bay. The bathroom was also spacious with a sliding window that separates the bath (with its own TV!) from the bedroom. The king-sized bed was super comfortable bed perfect to relax into with pristine cotton sheets and down feathered pillows. Complimentary internet access and a huge LCD TV. The pool area offers a quiet place to relax with plenty of chairs for soaking up the sun.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Pan Pacific Manila: “Please be informed that our maximum occupant per room is 2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 years old and below. So you may allow bringing back unregistered guests overnight without any joiner fee. We only require the name of your visitor to be registered at the reception for safety and security purposes. Your Butler, Ritz Sioson | Reservations Department.”
Sofitel Plaza Manila Hotel ★★★★★ $119 avg/night
CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard Pasay, Manila Bay, Manila, Philippines
Location: The Sofitel Plaza Manila Hotel is a spotlessly clean and elegant hotel offering everything you could possibly want. Lovely room with an ultra-comfy bed and super soft pillows and a lovely balcony that gave a magnificent view of the swimming pool and Manila Bay area. Bar, restaurant, spa, golf, tennis court, outdoor pool, and fitness center are also available. The only disappointment was that there was no WiFi included in the price, having said this it was still much lower in price than I paid at the Makati Shangri-La’ for the same amenities and service.
Guest Friendly policy reply by The Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila Hotel: “Thank you for your email. Please be informed that our room can accommodate two (2) Adults and two (2) children below 12 years old. Regarding your inquiry about the joiner’s fee, please be informed if you will be staying alone in the room and the joiner will just come when you arrive, there will no additional charge. However, the hotel needs every guest to be registered. It’s the hotel’s policy.”
